Natural Stone Courtyard Created at New Tombola Head Office, Sunderland

Following the construction of this prestigious £7m office development on the banks of the River Wear, BBS was commissioned by landscape architect, Colour Urban Design, to provide a natural stone solution that united Tombola’s brand new head office to its existing office space in an adjacent converted warehouse.

The riverside courtyard was designed to offer magnificent views across the Wear and together with Tombola’s impressive new head office, has provided a fabulous external hard landscape for its 300 employees, whilst revitalised this area of the river.

BBS supplied a selection of natural stone products, chosen by the client for their colour and durability and also provided technical support throughout the project. As BSS has worked with the landscape architects on numerous projects throughout the North East, they were aware of the breadth of natural stone materials BBS supplies and the outstanding technical expertise available.

Using a range of complimentary materials, including Black Basalt, Grey Granite kerbs, setts and steps, together with Caithness natural stone slabs, BBS also supplied an iconic slab engraved with the Tombola logo – a bespoke service that has created a fabulous focal point to the project.
