Granite & Yorkstone for London's Cycle Superhighway

BBS supply of granite kerbs and sandstone paving to Volker Highways for the North-South Cycle Superhighway.

A citywide scheme is underway in London to improve the safety of cyclists, pedestrians and others by constructing wide, two-way cycle paths and redeveloping junctions and crossings. BBS are thrilled to be involved in the supply of granite kerbs and sandstone paving to Volker Highways for the North-South Cycle Superhighway, an innovative redevelopment of London’s roads by Transport for London, initiated by former Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. This particular one stretches from Stonecutter Street down to Elephant & Castle.

The works were underway at the same time as the East-West route, other routes can be found across the city and planning for more are underway along with extensions of current superhighways. We think the soft buff and grey tones of the Yorkstone along with the silver of the granite have refreshed the area making it look clean, new and very upmarket – perfect alongside the in-construction One Blackfriars multi-million pound tower.

Cyclists are now using the superhighways safely alongside cars and pedestrians to travel all over London.
