Caithness Natural Stone Paving Selected for Stephenson Pocket Park, Newcastle

On behalf of Newcastle City Council, BBS has supplied Caithness paving for a new public square at the monument of railway pioneer George Stephenson.

The ‘Pocket Park’ on Westgate Road, opposite to the train station and a gateway to the city, has been created to provide a relaxing and pleasant space. As the first area that people will see when arriving into Newcastle by train it needed to make a real impact.

Newcastle City Council knew exactly what they wanted for this project and did not hesitate to specify Caithness paving for its durability and aesthetic qualities, and with this indigenous natural stone used extensively throughout the city for many years, it fitted the brief perfectly.

Working closely with Landscape Architects, Southern Green, who BBS has worked with on numerous projects, including supplying 1300m of natural stone for the impressive regeneration of Bigg Market in Newcastle City Centre, the natural stone supplied by BBS has transformed Stephenson Pocket Park.

BBS was delighted to work with Newcastle City Council again and produce yet another outstanding, iconic project for everyone to enjoy.
