BBS supplies Westfield Yorkstone to enhance the aesthetics of Islington's Highbury Corner public space

BBS stone helps in transforming one of London’s most intimidating roundabouts into a people-friendly interchange with a brand-new public space.

This exciting redevelopment project was delivered by an integrated Transport for London and Ringway Jacobs team, from the initial concept design through to implementation.

Proud to be associated with this much-anticipated scheme, BBS provided the paving contractor, Gavigan Paving, with 1,200m2 of Westfield Yorkstone for application on the main public paving walkways and underground station entrance. Being a hard-wearing and aesthetically pleasing stone, our Yorkstone is a perfect fit to accommodate the tremendous volume of footfall it will receive across a given day.

With Transport For London as the main client, quality of product and speed of delivery were high on the agenda, and we are pleased to have delivered in both regards. The scheme was opened by the Mayor of London in October 2019, and demonstrates how road-space reallocation can be used effectively to establish a renewed sense of place, enhance the environment and readdress the balance towards more sustainable travel choices.
