Monmouth Red SandstoneMonmouthshire Red quarried in Monmouth from the Old Devonian Red Sandstone deposits laid down between 300-400 million years ago.

This local stone has been used for centuries, as building material, with notable projects Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle and the Market House – Ross on Wye.

The Monmouth quarry has been producing building stone for approximately 150 years, supplying, walling, masonry and paving to domestic and smaller commercial projects in the UK and for export, because of recent acquisitions and the availability of improved sawing facilities, the paving is now available for the first time for larger commercial paving projects.

Predominantly available in thicknesses of 50mm, 63mm & 75mm and widths of 300mm, 450mm & 600mm in random lengths of 300mm-900mm, it is available in two finishes, diamond sawn and flame textured, which result in a colour range from Red to Light Brown, with some lighter marbling effects

BBS granite concepts are proud to be able to support the UK natural stone industry, and these particular Welsh quarries.
