February 26th saw The Prime Ministers’ Better building award summit take place in London, giving invited attendees the chance to be involved with the award winning and shortlisted projects, through case study deliveries by the design teams. The redevelopment of Kings Cross Station and the surrounding areas were of particular interest to the BBS Granite Concepts team, having supplied much of the external paving to this prestigious scheme.
The Grade 1 listed site which has hosted The Flying Scotsman and includes the front facing façade designed by Lewis Cubitt and constructed in 1852, has been transformed into another iconic London landmark, and is due to a collaborative team including Camden Council, English Heritage, John Mc Aslan and Partners Architects and ARUP Engineers. BBS Granite Concepts supplied the UK Yorkstone paving to the stations aprons, and a mix of coloured granites to the taxiways and selected road areas. Our work hasn’t stopped there, and we have been selected to supply more granite and sandstone to the scheme, which now includes The Argent. BBS Granite Concepts would like to offer our congratulations to The UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, which won the coveted Prime Ministers’ award. YORKSTONESANDSTONEGRANITE
